Everyone is a Pedestrian
On average, a pedestrian is killed every two hours and injured every eight minutes in traffic crashes. In 2011, pedestrian fatalities accounted for 14% of all fatalities from traffic crashes, while also making up 3% of all people injured in traffic crashes.
Children, immigrants, and the elderly make up a disproportionate number of pedestrians injured in traffic accidents. Additionally, 32% of pedestrian fatalities occurred during nighttime hours, specifically between 8 p.m. and 12:00 a.m.
At Personal Injury of Florida, we are committed to helping educate the community on proper safety measures for pedestrians. Click here for the informative brochures: “Everyone is a Pedestrian” and “A Kid’s Guide to Safe Walking.”
