Don’t Drink & Drive

On average, more than 10,000 people are killed every year in traffic crashes involving drunk driving.  In 2012, almost 2/3 fatal crashes between 12 a.m and 3 a.m involved a drunk driver.  In that same year, every 51 minutes someone died due to a drunk driver.  Of those who are eventually convicted of drunk driving, as high as 75% continue to drive on a suspended license.  Young adults between the ages of 21 and 25 make up nearly a quarter (23.4%) of all drunk drivers.

Teenagers and young adults drink 11% percent of all alcohol consumed in the U.S.  Even though they drink less often than adults, when they drink, they drink more.  Most young people consume alcohol by binge drinking, which is the act of consuming several drinks in a single occasion.

At Personal Injury of Florida, we understand the dangers of alcohol, teenage drinking, and driving.  That is why we are committed to educating the community on the dangers of drunk driving, especially in young people.  Click here for a sample Parent Teen Driving Agreement, as well as the informative brochure: “Make a Difference: Talk to Your Child about Alcohol.”
